What I did discover?

In this week class my lecturer checked our group assignment 2 which is create a curriculum based on our own career. She checked all the teams one by one.Than, she asked us to find the main topic of our assignment and also followed by subtopics. Before that, she went through our checklist and corrected our mistakes one by one. Then, she helped us by giving some tips based on our assignment. Moreover, she advice us to come up with the topics and the details about the assignment.I think it will be very helpful to us.Thank you :)

What I did discover?

What I discover in the previous class is about the different characteristic of Ralph Tyler,Hilda Taba,The backward design model and The task analysis model. My other classmates had presented their opinian about the four types of model. Each team presant and explain different points and gave varity of examples. And my lecturer also explain about this models. It made me to gain some knowledge and clear my doubts as well.I would like to thank my classmates and my lecturer.

The curriculum design model which I liked ( Hilda taba VS Ralph Tyler)

The curriculum design model which I liked the most is:

According to Theory to Practice, Tyler's curriculum design research model is the most common model. His model, devised in 1949, poses four questions to the curriculum developer. The answers to these questions inform the four stages in the curriculum design process: stating objectives, selecting learning experiences, organizing these learning experiences and evaluation to determine whether the objectives were achieved and assess whether the learning experiences produced the desired results.
In 1962, Taba refined Tyler's curriculum development model, adding three additional stages that involved diagnosing the needs of the learners as a first step and added the selection and organization of content as additional steps. Taba's curriculum design process contained seven main steps: diagnosis of the learners' educational needs, formulating specific objectives, selection of content based on those objectives, organization of the content into appropriate levels and sequences, selection of learning experiences that help the students learn the content, organization of those learning experiences and evaluation of whether the objectives are met.

So,from this I would like to say I liked Taba and her theory more then Ralph Tyler. She created a curriculum in more details and seven several steps.

What I did discover?

What I did discover in my class is about Maslow hierarchy theory. His theory based on psychology proposed by Abraham Maslow in his 1943 paper "A Theory of Human Motivation" in Psychological Review.Maslow subsequently extended the idea to include hi s observations of humans innate curiosity. From his theory I learned about characteristic of Maslow which is self-actualization means describes the good life as one direct toward self-actualization,the pinnacle need. This also occurs when you maximize your potential, doing the best that you are capable of doing and he believed people seeking fulfillment and change thought personal growth.Next is self esteem which is need to feel respected. This include the needs to have self-esteem and self-respect.Esteem present the typical human desire to be accepted and valued by people.Third characteristic is safety needs such as personal security, financial security, health and well-being and many more. This is about physical needs relatively satisfied, the individual's safety needs take precedence and dominate behavior.

School of Thought

The school of thought which is cognition, behaviour and humanistic are very important to curriculum. But from my point of view, humanistic is more important and effective for my field.Humanist learning theorists view learning as a function of the whole person and believe that learning cannot take place unless both the cognitive and affective domains are involved. The individual's capacity for self-determination is an important part of humanist theory. For example, humanist theory is used to help post myocardial infarction patients regain a sense of personal control over their health care management. It is possible to select element of each theory that you find useful in patient teaching.
